The Enzo service outage demonstrates the need for planning and multiple bank accounts

During the last week of February, Enzo customers were left frustrated that they had no access to their funds during Enzo’s app outage. Without any communication from the fintech, some customers were left wondering just how long their accounts would be inaccessible. Some Enzo customers who had either scheduled bill payments through Enzo’s app, or who were planning on logging into the app to schedule payments, scrambled to make alternative payment arrangements to avoid possible late payments. In this case, the adage about not putting your eggs in one basket rings true. It’s important to have …

Are you prepared for you financial institutions’ next service outage?

As an example, let’s say that you go to your bank’s site with the intention to schedule a bill that’s due in just a few days. It’s the last day for you to …

Capital One recently made some changes that, at first glance, appeared to be a great addition as it displays balance transfer (BT) offers for multiple credit cards all on one page. However, the page, is not what it appears to be. The link to access the page is described as “Offers and Upgrades”. I have balance transfer offers for each of my Capital One credit cards, and I also have an upgrade offer for one of the cards. But, my “Offers and Upgrades” page doesn’t list one of the balance transfer offers. The card upgrade offer is …

Citi’s glitchy balance transfer tool emails customers about phantom balance transfer offers

I won’t be duped again by Citi’s email enticing me to finish my balance transfer (BT). Before Citi introduced its new feature that lets customers preview their available Flex Loan and balance transfer offers, I would use Citi’s balance transfer link to see if I had a BT offer. Within a few days of doing so, Citi would send me an email asking me to finish my balance transfer. “Your Balance Transfer Offer is Waiting,” the first email subject read. In the email, Citi asked, “Did you forget your balance transfer offer?” No, I didn’t  forget. You never …
